Trump meets with former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard as debate with Harris looms

Former President Donald Trump recently met with Tulsi Gabbard in preparation for his upcoming debate with US border chief and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

Harris appeared so taken aback by the attacks from the left that she was never able to get her campaign back on track: She withdrew before the Iowa caucuses.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt acknowledged Trump and Gabbard’s recent collaboration but denied the notion that the former president was actively involved in debate preparations.

“President Trump has proven himself to be one of the greatest debaters in political history, as evidenced by his knockout of Joe Biden,” Leavitt said. statement“While he won’t need traditional debate preparation, he will still meet with respected policy advisers and talented communicators like Tulsi Gabbard, who outshone Kamala Harris on the debate stage.”

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, “dominated” Harris, then a senator from California, in the 2019 Democratic presidential primary debate, effectively bringing an early end to her nascent campaign.

“Senator Harris is proud of her record as a prosecutor and says she intends to run for president as a prosecutor, but I have deep concerns about this record.” As Harris’ expression darkened, Gabbard said:.

“The list is endless,” Gabbard continued, “But she sent over 1,500 people to prison for marijuana offenses, laughed when asked if she had ever smoked marijuana, and hid evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until a court forced her to do so. She kept people in prison past their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California, and fought to preserve a system that impacts the poor the most.”
