Lying former Congressman George Santos is reportedly set to plead guilty in federal court on Monday to lining his campaign funds.

“We heard he will plead guilty on Monday,” one donor told TPM.
“He should be held fully accountable and as far as I’m concerned he is quite guilty. I’m sure he lied to my face.”
An in-person hearing was scheduled for Monday afternoon in Central Islip at the request of federal authorities after both sides asked for an extension of pretrial deadlines, records show.
This change may indicate that such an agreement exists in the wording.
The Washington Post has reached out to the Justice Department and Santos’ legal team for comment.

Santos did not respond to a message asking about a possible plea deal.
The federal trial is scheduled to begin in September. Prosecutors have told the judge they plan to call at least 30 witnesses, including victims of Santos’ alleged crimes.
Santos pleaded not guilty earlier this week to a string of financial crimes, including lying to Congress about his assets, collecting unemployment benefits while actually working and using campaign funds to pay for personal expenses such as designer clothes.
Santos’ lawyers argued in recent court filings that extensive negative media coverage of Santos means they need written information “regarding the knowledge, beliefs and biases of potential jurors.”
