CNN commentator Scott Jennings said Friday that Vice President Harris’ price control proposals would cause massive food shortages.

“If you love bread lines, shortages, black markets and hoarding, and want to recreate the happy economic times of ‘The Walking Dead,’ Harris has a plan for you,” Jennings said Friday.

of Harris’ campaign Harris announced on Wednesday that once she takes office, she will “institute a federal ban on food and grocery price gouging” to stop “big corporations” from exploiting consumers. On Friday, she spoke in Raleigh, North Carolina, about her economic vision for the country.

“There’s no price gouging going on,” he said. “Grocery stores and things like that operate on razor-thin margins. There’s no price gouging going on. There’s just inflation,” the Republican strategist said.

Jennings said the plan comes from candidates “who have no private sector experience and no interest in taking responsibility for all the actions that have plunged working-class Americans into economic crisis.”

Commentators also responded to Harris’ comments about rising food prices and other economic hardships.

“The first thing I saw was a scathing indictment of the state of the country,” Jennings said. “She laid out very effectively how the American people are being hit so hard by the policies of the Biden-Harris Administration. I mean, inflation is the No. 1 problem. Food prices, housing costs, housing shortages, all of these things are absolutely true.”

“She and Joe Biden are in control and she voted directly to create this situation,” Jennings said. “I don’t know how she’s going to distance herself from Joe Biden on this because she’s directly involved in everything she’s talked about today.”

“Like food prices. We all know prices went up during the pandemic because supply chains were shut down and dysfunctional, but now the supply chains have improved but prices are still too high,” Harris said.

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
