Mara Massie, a conservative candidate in Florida’s 5th Congressional District, said “it would definitely shock the establishment” if she wins Tuesday’s primary against Republican Rep. John Rutherford (R-Fla.). Breitbart News Saturday Already, the establishment is worried about a conservative takeover of Northeast Florida.
Massie spoke about her primary battle with Rutherford, which officially begins on Tuesday, saying voters finally have a chance to replace the Republican governor of New Jersey with a true conservative.
“I’m in Jacksonville, where there’s a high Democratic turnout, and Democrats are likely to do pretty well in Duval County. But Republicans are going to win in St. Johns County. So, it doesn’t matter. The general election is not really the same as the primary,” she explained. “The primary is where you win and lose.”
During his speech, Massie blasted Rutherford’s spending habits and tendency to side with the establishment. When asked what message he thought a victory on Tuesday would send to politicians around the country, Massie said it would send an even stronger message to the American people.

Democrats will portray her victory as the “far right” taking power, but “in reality it’s just actual conservatives getting more power in Washington, D.C., and on the right,” she said.
“It’s definitely going to be a shock to the establishment. They’re already concerned about having true grassroots conservatives in power here in Northeast Florida,” she said, emphasizing an above all else message.
“But most importantly, I think the biggest and most important message is to the American people: If you get involved in politics, if you work, if you educate people about candidates, if you educate people about following the money, you can actually win representation. It can be done,” she said.
“We don’t have to live under the control of the establishment. The people can take back the power. We can take back the power. If we get involved, we can take back our country. So please, guys, start understanding what’s at stake so you know where to get information, how to take back your power. Take back your power. They may not want you to have it, but it’s yours. Take back the power and rebuild this country,” Massieh added.
