Jillian Michaels: ‘CNN branded me as crazy’

It’s no wonder that Jillian Michaels has become the newest voice of Bill Maher’s Club Random Studios network.

Maher has often said his progressive views haven’t changed — the Democratic Party has shifted too far to the left, and Michaels no longer fits the party’s brand.

“There’s no denying that people born male will always have a physical advantage in sports. There’s a wealth of data to back that up. … Data trumps emotions.”

Michaels knows the feeling.

“I’ve gone from left to center-left to center and now a little bit center-right,” the “Keeping It Real with Jillian Michaels” host told Align magazine. “My heart hasn’t changed… The world around me has changed.”

Political Football

The fitness guru has spoken out in recent years against transgender women competing against biological women, as well as the extreme politics of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

This lesbian mother of two has also been the first to speak out against corporate media bias – in fact, she is living proof of it.

She recently appeared on CNN to reportedly discuss the widespread use of Ozempic. Michaels prefers old-fashioned dietary advice — exercise, healthy eating and moderation — to drugs with uncertain side effects.

“All I do is talk to doctors and PhDs all day,” she said. “CNN has branded me crazy.”

And she knows why.

“Health has become a political issue…weight loss has become a political issue,” she said, adding that the American Academy of Pediatrics has endorsed weight loss for children. About 12 years old He was given the Ozempic during the Battle of the Bulge.

She said she has been called an “anti-vaxxer” for questioning the COVID-19 vaccination, despite having received “every vaccine,” and is appalled at how heavily social media platforms censor speech and people who hold so-called problematic views.

Zero Tolerance

“We should be able to discuss [subjects] “We thought being left meant being a tolerant party, without being oppressed or silenced. We wanted everyone to be able to live freely.”

Talking to her wife, Deshana Marie Minute, a Trump supporter, was an eye-opener for her. “The modern left is the least tolerant,” she told her. At first, she disagreed. “We always fought, but after 2020, I started to understand that,” Michaels said.

She’ll have plenty to say on “Keeping It Real,” a video version of her audio podcast, which allows Michaels to voice her opinions on tough topics without filter or embarrassment.

A recent episode featured journalist Michael Shellenberger sharing an inconvenient truth about “gender-reassignment care” for children that the media is avoiding.

Michaels isn’t attacking people who disagree with her worldview, which she calls Dale Carnegie’s approach and cites his classic book, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

“It’s hard. You want to feel safe, like you’re with the family. But at the same time, there’s a larger goal of getting people to the table and talking and listening and understanding,” she said. “Once you understand their position, you can then express your own position from there. That builds some goodwill.”

She believes that’s something that’s sorely lacking in the modern media world.

She began noticing a cultural shift about a decade ago, when she was reinventing her own image after leaving NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

40 years old and white

A new potential agent gave her a strange warning.

“You’re 40 years old and white. It’s going to be tough,” she recalled of the conversation. “Who cares? I’m still doing great things at what I do. I’ve got a great track record at what I do,” she added, including an Emmy nomination and multiple best-selling books.

She also welcomed the push for diversity: As the mother of a black child, she hoped her daughter would have more opportunities in the future.

good.

Not so good? The big picture of skin color being more important than achievement. The “new” way of thinking suddenly has weight loss tips like “Insulting obesity” he said of government overreach related to the 2020 pandemic.

Yep, the fitness queen conjured up the “W” word: woke.

Michaels isn’t afraid to wade into culture war issues; she once wrote an op-ed detailing the evidence against trans women being in competition with biological women.

“There’s no denying that people born male will always have a physical advantage in sports. There’s a wealth of data to back that up,” she said, adding that creative solutions must be developed to allow transgender athletes to play sports in a fair and appropriate way. “Data trumps emotions.”

However, she could not find the courageous outlet to consider it.

“Nobody, really nobody, was going to print that article in the center or left of center,” she recalled.

Weight Loss Tips

At 50, Michaels looks just as slim as most influencers in their 20s, and she has some solid advice to help others lose weight in a healthy, sensible way.

“Invest in a walking pad,” she said of the affordable gadget. “Walk while you use the computer, answer emails, and watch your favorite shows.”

The excuses that the weather is too cold, too hot or too rainy no longer work, she said.

“Walk 10,000 steps a day,” she says, recommending getting one of the many simple phone apps available to track your steps. “You don’t need an expensive Apple Watch.”

She adds that you should use plenty of common sense and eat what you like — Cheetos and Doritos are not ideal choices.

Want to splurge? Eat lots of green vegetables.

“Enjoy it to your heart’s content! Fill up to your heart’s content. It’s full of fiber,” she said.

Still struggling? For emotional support, she recommends online support communities, Overeaters Anonymous, or peers on MeetUp.com.
