Young Indiana mom of 3 allegedly killed by ex-boyfriend while filming TikTok with friend: report

A young mother of three in Indiana was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend while filming a TikTok video, according to reports.

New Albany police found 25-year-old Kaitlyn Lee fatally wounded in the early morning hours of Aug. 10 after responding to her apartment following a report of shots fired.

Authorities told local media outlet WAVE that Lee was shot and killed while in his apartment with a friend, who told police he had been filming a TikTok video in his kitchen when he heard banging on the window. According to documents obtained by WAVE.

The friend reportedly told police he heard Lee ask, “What are you doing here?” just before two or three shots were fired.

She told police that just before her friend was shot, she saw Lee’s ex-boyfriend, Joshua Thompson, 25, standing alone outside the window and pointing a gun at Lee.

The friend also told police that Thompson and Lee had a toxic relationship and were “constantly at odds,” according to WAVE news agency.

Lee’s aunt, Pamela Greenwell, said her niece has had to move three times in the past four months because of Thompson.

“In April of this year, she called me and said he had beaten her badly,” Greenwell told WAVE. “I went to pick her up and she was completely black and blue. He was arrested and taken here to the county jail. They gave her an EPO to protect Kaitlyn, but it didn’t protect her. It didn’t protect her.”

According to WAVE, Thompson ran the scene and called his brother, crying, during which he admitted to shooting Lee in the head, killing her.

Thompson allegedly called 911 and told police he had shot his child’s mother and was turning himself in.

Police quickly arrested Thompson and charged him with murder, according to WAVE.

Despite the no-contact order, Thompson allegedly told police he wanted to see if Lee was in the apartment with another man.

Detectives reviewed the TikTok video, which showed Lee and another woman laughing, dancing and singing before stopping and turning away from the camera toward the back kitchen window where Thompson was, according to WAVE.

An explosion occurs outside the window and the video stops abruptly.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses and Lee’s young children.

“As many of you already know, my cousin Kaitlyn Lee was shot and murdered on Saturday, August 10th,” Lee’s cousin, Janet Roberts, posted. “She did not deserve what happened to her. Those babies should not have had to go through this. I cannot understand how or why someone would do such an inhumane thing.”

“Her three beautiful babies will now be growing up without a mother because of someone’s selfish actions,” Roberts continued.
