Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling and others to serve as hosts at the DNC

Mindy Kaling, Kerry Washington, Ana Navarro and Tony Goldwyn will serve as hosts for this week’s Democratic National Convention, convention officials have confirmed.

Each celebrity will host one night of the four-day convention in Chicago and will be responsible for presenting the show to audiences at the event and on television, a source told The Hill on Sunday.

Goldwyn is scheduled for Monday night, Navarro for Tuesday night, Kaling for Wednesday night and Washington for Thursday night.

CNN We were the first to report on the selection of the entertainment host.

Organizers said each person was chosen because of their past support for the Democratic Party and its candidates.

Washington, a former “Scandal” star, is the founder of Influence Change, a celebrity-focused political action group that promotes civic engagement, and opened the third day of the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Earlier this year, she teamed up with former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) to serve as co-chair of the advisory board for Power the Polls, an effort to recruit poll workers ahead of November.

Goldwyn, who played the president on ABC’s “Scandal,” is also a Democratic activist and supported former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s candidacy for the 2016 presidential election.

Kaling, known for her work on hit TV shows “The Office” and Disney’s “Inside Out,” has made various appearances alongside Vice President Harris, including in 2020 when then-Senator Harris hosted a virtual Hollywood campaign event for Biden’s 2020 presidential run.

In 2019, Kaling appeared on Harris’ YouTube channel. There they made masala dosa and talked about Indian traditions.

Navarro, a Republican strategist and co-host of ABC’s “The View,” has increasingly supported the Democratic Party in recent years, especially since former President Donald Trump entered politics. Deadlines reported.

She plans to attend the Democratic National Convention Instagram Video Sunday night.

“Words can’t express how much it means to me,” Navarro said in the video. “I’m a refugee girl who fled communism in Nicaragua at age 8 and found freedom and opportunity and a home in America. For me to stand on that stage and have the chance to help my daughter, Kamala, make history and become the Democratic nominee is just an incredible moment.”

The four-day convention will feature numerous political speakers, ranging from current White House, congressional and state leaders to former presidents.

President Biden will kick off the convention with opening remarks on Monday evening, and Harris is scheduled to conclude it with her presidential acceptance speech on Thursday.
