Person accidentally texts Mississippi police officer: ‘Bruh, we smoke all the time’

A police officer in Gulfport, Mississippi had a hilarious response after someone accidentally texted him asking to meet up for a “smoke.”

The Gulfport Police Department released a text exchange between one of their officers and a random person who displayed his sense of humor when someone sent a message to the wrong person.

The text conversation began around 10 p.m. on Friday with the caller asking the supposed friend what he was doing.

“Clink, Hub [how about you]” the officer wrote.

“Want a cigarette?” the stranger asked.

In response to the invitation, the officer wrote, “I don’t think I can smoke a cigarette with you.”

The person responded: “Hey, we smoke all the time.”

The officer advised the caller that it was likely a wrong number, but the caller persisted.

“Hey, put the cap on. [lying or joking]” the person wrote.

Rather than continue the conversation, the officer took a photo of himself holding his police badge and sent it to the individual.

“No cap [lie or joke]” the officer wrote.

The department shared screenshots of the text exchange and offered some advice to the public on Facebook.

“Pro tip: double-check the number before sending a text. Nothing ruins someone’s day like a wrong call,” police wrote.

The post garnered attention on social media, with one user writing: “Seriously I would have changed my phone number at that moment!!!”
