On Thursday’s episode of Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Sen. Peter Welch (D-Vermont) responded to a question about the lack of discussion about borders and inflation at the Democratic National Convention by saying, “The good news here is we have a new candidate.”
Before the interview, host Laura Ingraham said the public doesn’t really know what Harris’s policies are, pointing out that Democrats are “happy” but also angry. As the interview began, Ingraham asked, “We’ve been here four days, and I think they’ve mentioned Trump. What? 175 times. I think they’ve mentioned the border about 30 times, and inflation about 40 times. What is the disparity in issues that the public cares about?”
“First of all, I’m glad we have a new nominee. We were in a tough spot. President Biden made the brave decision to step down and Kamala Harris raised $100 million in one day,” Welch responded.
After Ingraham cut in and said Biden had dropped out of the race, Welch responded that it was Biden’s choice after all. “We’re very excited,” Welch said. “We were lying on the mat. The Republican convention was very united because they thought it was just a matter of time before they beat us. But now we have a fighting chance.”
