The Bronx man is at it again: Aaron Judge continues his AL record-breaking streak by hitting his 50th and 51st home runs this season for the New York Yankees.
Judge hit 62 home runs in 2022, breaking Yankees legend Roger Maris’ single-season home run record.
But Judge, who was named the AL Most Valuable Player that season, became the first player in MLB history to reach 50 home runs this season and is officially in position to break the record, having been on pace to hit 63 by the end of the regular season with 31 games remaining as of Sunday’s game.

The next closest player is Shohei Ohtani, the front-runner for the National League MVP, with 41 big fly balls.
Judge’s first home run came in the bottom of the first inning against Colorado Rockies left-handed starter Austin Gomber, who ranks 61st among 62 qualified MLB starting pitchers in home runs allowed per nine innings (1.70).
Can Aaron Judge break his own American League home run record?
Gomber threw an 0-2 changeup to Judge low in the strike zone, just high enough for the right-handed slugger to step back and swing his arm at the ball.
The Yankee Stadium crowd erupted in cheers as the ball flew to left-center field and over the fence to give his team a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
The home run came after Judge’s 11-game hitting streak was snapped in Saturday’s win over the Rockies.

Then, with the Yankees leading 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, Juan Soto hit his career-high 37th home run to extend the lead to two runs. After Soto rounded the bases, Judge decided to hit the first pitch Jeff Criswell threw, driving it into the right field stands for his second home run of the day.
Judge is chasing the home run record, becoming the first player in major league history to hit 50 or more homers in three of his first nine seasons.
The first-inning homer also moved Judge to a tie with former Yankee Alex Rodriguez for the most home runs in a single season with 18.
Judge’s run this season has been impressive to Yankees fans and even MLB fans alike, with many commenting on his performance and drawing comparisons to the great Barry Bonds as teams have begun intentionally walking Judge to avoid situations like Gomber’s on Sunday.
Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz recently spoke to Fox News Digital about Judge this year.
“Oh man, the guy is incredible,” Ortiz told Fox News Digital at Fanatics Fest last Friday. “You’re talking about a guy who has all the tools. And he’s on another level physically. He’s just special.”

It remains to be seen whether Judge can come close to or beat his own record, but with a month left in the regular season, he shows no signs of slowing down.
