Bruce Springsteen addresses farewell tour rumors after battling health issues

It’s no secret that Bruce Springsteen is getting old: He’ll turn 75 in September, and given the spate of concert cancellations over the past few months, it’s fair to wonder how much energy The Boss has left.

Springsteen addressed the rumors last week during two rescheduled shows in Philadelphia from last summer, after the rocker suffered a painful and debilitating digestive ulcer disease before finally returning to the stage in March.

“We’ve been doing this for 50 years, and we’re not quitting,” he told the crowd. In Video One post shared on social media: “There will be no farewell tour! Oh my goodness! There will be no E Street Band farewell tour!”

“Absolutely not! Saying goodbye to what? Thousands of people screaming your name? Oh I’m done,” he sarcastically told the crowd, as fans throughout the venue chanted “Bruce!”

Springsteen let the sound of his own name sink in for a moment, then said, “Yeah, that’s it. I’m not going anywhere!”

“In light of this, additional postponements have been necessitated for Prague’s Letnany Airport (originally scheduled for May 28th) and Milan’s San Siro Stadium (originally scheduled for June 1st and 3rd). New dates for these shows will be announced shortly. Anyone wishing to receive a refund can do so through their point of purchase. Bruce is recovering well, and he and the E Street Band look forward to resuming their hugely successful European Stadium Tour on June 12th at Madrid’s spectacular Civitas Metropolitan.”
