Career experts share their thoughts on what you can do to overcome the urge to take a 3pm nap, especially while at work.
As summer draws to an end, it can get tough to maintain your stamina while working. Some people opt for caffeinated drinks, while others go for a quick walk.
But Kirsten Moorefield, co-founder of Cincinnati, Ohio-based “automated coaching” company Cloverleaf, shared some other tips for overcoming the slump. The thought leader and TEDx speaker told Fox News Digital that the 3 p.m. slump “isn’t necessarily going to make you less productive.”

Moorefield said understanding his own personal personality can be extremely helpful in getting through the day.

5 tips to beat the 3pm slump
1. Know your wiring
“One of the biggest causes of afternoon fatigue is that we’re often working against our natural strengths,” Moorefield said.

“Maybe you’re a morning person and you’re already at your peak energy, or maybe your task doesn’t align with how your brain works best,” she said.

2. Capitalize on small wins
“Have you ever noticed how completing even small tasks gives you energy?” Moorefield says.

“Small victories create a sense of accomplishment and can rekindle your motivation when it wanes.”
She recommended that I try it. Tackle easy tasks It helps restore energy for the rest of the day when you’re feeling down at 3pm.
In terms of daily planning, having a few of these simple tasks on hand will be beneficial in the long run, she says.

3. Connect with others
“For people who are good at socializing, sometimes the best way to get through a slump is to connect with other people,” she said.
Connecting with others can be as simple as taking five minutes to check in with your teammates, whether the conversation is work-related or not.

“Social interaction can bring a fresh perspective and some much-needed laughter, shake off the afternoon haze and get you ready to get back to work,” Moorefield said.
4. Change your environment
Another way to combat the 3pm slump is to simply get up and change your environment for a minute.

“If you feel stuck, try moving to another room, going outside for a few minutes, or getting up and stretching,” Moorefield suggests.
“Our brains crave change, and being in the same environment for too long can make us feel sluggish,” she adds.
5. Take a short break
The best way to beat the afternoon slump is to take some time away from work, says Moorefield.

“Whether it’s stretching, meditating, or even just closing your eyes and breathing, these short breaks can help calm your mind and reduce fatigue,” she said.
