Flying Bats FC won every game they played all season, scoring 65 goals and conceding just 4. West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook won 12 games and only lost 2, scoring 43 goals and conceding 17.

According to news.au.com, Flying Bats FC came under criticism earlier this year when they won the pre-season Beryl Ackroyd Cup and received a $1000 prize, but the team pride themselves on being supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community.

But just as in March, Flying Bats FC came under fire on social media for winning the championship despite having transgender players on its team, which reportedly has as many as five transgender players on its women’s team.

“Game over. Flying Bats FC win the Premiership and Grand Final. A transgender-identifying man is crowned champion of the Women’s Premier League division,” Australian journalist Lucy Zelic wrote on X.

“Apparently, this is supposed to represent progress. Somewhere along the line, it seems our game administrators just don’t care.”

West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook FC took the defeat in stride.
