Fired Christian Nurse Speaks Out on Spiritual Battle at Texas Children’s Hospital

A Christian nurse who was reportedly fired from Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in Houston for exposing alleged Medicaid fraud related to sex-reassignment surgeries for minors sees her situation as a spiritual battle.

“I’m a Christian and my faith is the basis of everything I do,” Vanessa Sivaggi said. Christian Post“That is why I made this statement.”

In an exclusive statement provided to journalist Christopher Ruffo, Sivaggi claims he was fired on August 16 by TCH, the nation’s largest children’s hospital, for exposing alleged Medicaid fraud involving the use of federal funds to cover sex-changing hormones and puberty-suppressing drugs in violation of Texas law.

Shivaji I reached out my hand Last year, TCH filed a lawsuit against Rufo, arguing that the practice was pushing “gender-affirming” medical treatment on young patients rather than addressing their underlying psychological issues.

Her meeting with Rufo follows Rufo’s May 2023 reporting on Dr. Ethan Heim, who leaked medical records showing that TCH continued to prescribe puberty suppressants to children with gender dysphoria when it claimed that this was not the case.

According to the Department of Justice press releaseIn June, the Department of Justice filed four felony charges against Heim, accusing him of “obtaining private patient information, including patient names, treatment codes and attending physicians, from Texas Children’s Hospital’s (TCH) electronic systems without authorization.”

Heim and Rufo claim that patients’ names were redacted from the leaked documents.

In his latest statement, Sivaggi said Rufo had requested religious accommodation from the hospital on May 31 and was being transferred out of the endocrinology unit, where he claims he was forced to “indirectly participate in the care of children receiving cross-sex hormones.”

She requested to be transferred to her core specialty, cardiology, where transgender ideas are less prevalent.

“Last Friday, August 16th, TCH fired me with immediate effect,” Sivaj wrote, “which is unlawful for two reasons: first, in retaliation for my providing information about TCH’s egregious deception and Medicaid fraud, and second, for unlawfully ignoring my request to be transferred, which was based on my belief that these procedures would cause irreparable harm and lifelong regret to misgendered children.”

She added that she does not know Haim and said his situation is different because he has not yet faced federal charges, despite federal law enforcement visiting his home in June.

“I never thought of it like that. [my identity] “I believe that if this comes to light, the federal government will eventually come to me and try to intimidate me into silence,” she said. Posts Posted by Rufo on X.

“And instead of investigating wrongdoing or misconduct at a healthcare institution or an organization, in my case a hospital, I believe the federal government has been used as a tool to go after people like me who expose crimes and blow the whistle,” she said.

“This is awful. I never in a million years thought this would happen to me,” she added.

She also warned that the political weaponization of federal agencies against people of faith would continue if Kamala Harris is elected president.

“I believe that the Department of Justice has been used as a weapon against people of faith and against people who expose injustice and illegal activity — not just in my case but in so many other cases,” she said, “so I have deep concerns that if she’s elected, nothing will change in that regard.”

She told CP she likened her case to a spiritual battle and maintained that she had fulfilled her duty as a Christian by exposing the wrongdoings.

Ephesians 5 “The Bible tells us not to get involved in any worthless deeds of evil and darkness but rather to expose them. Everything that is exposed by the light becomes visible,” Sivaji told CP.

“That was the foundation and motivation for me to do what I’ve done and speak out the way that I’ve done.”

“Because we believe that as Christians we have a responsibility to bring to light what has been done in the darkness,” she added.

She also said she “absolutely” felt God’s presence in her situation.

“Not only that, but I’ve felt so much support from God’s people,” she said, adding, “People in the community have reached out and sent so many messages and donated money on my behalf.” Send Send“No matter what happens, I always feel like I’m doing the right thing.”

“And at the end of the day, the greatest encouragement I receive is from people who donate and people who pray for me,” she continued.

As of Monday afternoon, Sivaggi’s GiveSendGo had raised $50,591 of its $500,000 goal.
