Cirque du Soleil performer falls to ground during live show in Portland

Dramatic video shows a Cirque du Soleil aerial hoop artist lose his grip during a stunt and plummet to the ground with no safety net to protect him from the fall.

Like many Cirque du Soleil performers, the 23-year-old Confectois performs her stunts without a net.

Ten-year-old Benjamin Goldstein was filming the aerial performer with his sister and father, but, like many in the audience, said he wasn't sure if her fall was “part of the show” when she fell.

“At first I thought it was part of the show. It seemed like they were doing it on purpose,” Goldstein told KOIN 6 News.

“But people were acting weird. I was like, oh, this isn't part of the show, there's something going on.”

A spokesperson for the tour told KOIN 6 News that Konfectova was “taken to the hospital for examination” after the fall, adding that she “is in a stable state and is receiving treatment from medical professionals and doctors.” [their] team.”
