Trump adds RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard to his transition team as he recruits supporters ‘across partisan lines’

Former President Trump expanded his “bipartisan” coalition of supporters by adding former Democratic congresswomen Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to his transition team.

“We are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have joined the Trump/Vance transition team as President Trump's broad, bipartisan coalition of supporters and sympathizers grows,” Brian Hughes, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, told Fox News Digital.

“We look forward to adding their powerful voices to the team as we work to restore American greatness,” Hughes added.

RFK Jr., who had run as a Democrat in the 2024 presidential election before becoming an independent, suspended his campaign last week and endorsed former President Trump, a historic move for a member of the Democratic Kennedy family.

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard also switched parties and considers herself an independent.

Gabbard, a military veteran and former Democratic representative for Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District, endorsed Trump this week.

“I am proud to stand before you here today, whether you're a Democrat, Republican or Independent,” Gabbard said. “If you love this country as much as I do, if you value peace and freedom as much as we do, then I ask you to join me in doing everything in your power to save this country, to elect President Donald J. Trump and send him back to the White House to do the difficult job of saving our country and serving our people.”

Gabbard, who faced off against Sen. Kamala Harris in the 2019 Democratic presidential primary, was recently asked by Trump to help with debate preparations ahead of her Sept. 10 debate with the vice president at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, RFK Jr. offered his own definition of “MAGA” on social media this week.

“It's about widespread prosperity and the most vibrant middle class in the world, [sic] America had an idealistic (if not consistently applied) belief in liberty, justice, and democracy. America led the world in innovation, productivity, and technology. And it was the healthiest country in the world. I've spoken to many of Trump's supporters. I've spoken to his aides. I've spoken to Trump himself. This is the America they want to restore.”
