These are the top college football 2025 offensive recruits who committed in August

For the Class of 2025, August was a busy month recruiting-wise, as several of the top freshmen in the country left the board and committed to join the program.

Four offensive line recruits ranked in the top 20 by major recruiting sites have finally made the decision to commit, so let’s break down each situation and what each player will bring to their next team.

5-star OT David Sanders | Tennessee

Arguably the biggest commitment this month was made when five-star offensive tackle David Sanders made headlines by committing to the Tennessee Volunteers on Aug. 17.

Sanders, 3rd place for enrollment in 2025 He was a unanimous top-six prospect this season, according to 247Sports, and his top four schools before signing included Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State and Nebraska.

Sanders' commitment to Tennessee makes him the Volunteers' highest-rated recruit of the Josh Heupel era and marks another big win for the program in the 2025 class.

Sanders is 6-foot-5 and weighs 275 pounds, boasting the athleticism and size required for the position with the ability to put on weight, making him a potential first-round NFL Draft-caliber tackle.

Now in his final year at Providence Day School in Charlotte, the five-star athlete was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in North Carolina and has his sights set on going even higher in 2024.

Sanders now joins five-star Douglas Utu (Rivals’ No. 12 ranked 2025 player) and four-star Nick Moore (a consensus Top 250 player) to spearhead the Volunteers’ well-rounded 2025 offensive line class.

5-star OT Michael Fassi | Oklahoma

Texas native Michael Fasci committed to head coach Brent Venables' Oklahoma Sooners on Aug. 21, with another five-star offensive tackle recently finishing his contract.

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound Fasci had numerous top-five prospects including Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oregon and Missouri, but the Sooners ultimately won his commitment in August.

With his impressive size, length and athleticism, Fasci has the makings of a first-round NFL draft pick if he realizes his potential in college.

Fassi could be the biggest piece of Oklahoma's 2025 freshman recruiting class and give the Sooners a second consecutive top-10 recruit after five-star defensive lineman David Stone signed with the program last winter.

The recruiting win is especially important for the Sooners, who landed a five-star offensive lineman and enter the SEC with big wins over in-state teams Texas and Texas A&M.

Fassi is the top recruit in the Sooners' 2025 class, along with four-star outside linebacker CJ Nickson from the University of Oklahoma.

5-star WR Kalik Lockett | Texas

Texas added two five-star recruits to its offensive line this month when wide receiver Kalik Lockett committed to the Longhorns, adding a major boost to the team's 2025 class.

Lockett, rated the No. 12 recruit and No. 2 receiver in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports, is 6-foot-2, weighs 180 pounds and had a standout season as a senior at Saxe High School, catching 59 passes for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The five-star track athlete has great size and long arms that make him a great all-around player at wide receiver, with solid speed and the ability to control routes with good acceleration, consistently making contested catches and just generally having great handles.

Lockett listed Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State, LSU and Texas as his top five picks before ultimately committing to the in-state Longhorns for his collegiate career.

He becomes the second-best freshman in the 2025 class in the state of Texas, a key win for a program that needs to attract top in-state talent to the Longhorns.

The Rockets will work with wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, who has consistently sent top-tier players to the NFL, and will aim to be selected early in the NFL Draft if they realize their potential.

5-star OL Josh Petty | Georgia Tech

Five-star offensive lineman Josh Petty made a big decision earlier this month by committing to the Georgia State Yellow Jackets and head coach Brent Key.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Petty chose Georgia Tech over Ohio State, Florida State, Tennessee and Stanford, becoming one of the most highly-touted recruits in the program's history.

Petty's size suggests he may be better suited as an interior offensive lineman at the next level, but he has room to add size if he wants to play as an outside tackle.

He is ranked as the No. 14 best 2025 prospect and the No. 2 offensive lineman. Petty is Georgia Tech's top-ranked recruit in the 2025 class, as ranked by 247Sports, joining fellow in-state recruits cornerback Darren Penson (ranked No. 123 by 247Sports), offensive linemen Damola Ajdahun (ranked No. 84 by On3) and Justin Hasenhuettl (ranked No. 220 by ESPN) in his commitments.

Like many of the top tackles in this class, Petty has the athleticism and length to thrive in the NFL.

Despite numerous top programs recruiting him, the five-star player ultimately stayed local and will be a key cornerstone of Brent Key's 2025 class that is really starting to take shape.
