British tennis player Dan Evans set to cause upset in 2022 US Open On Tuesday, semifinalist Karen Khachanov won a grueling battle that lasted more than five hours to reach the second round, breaking the record for the longest match in U.S. Open history.
Evans, ranked 184th in the world, lost track of time at one point during the match, which lasted five hours and 35 minutes.

In the next set, Evans overcame a 4-0 deficit to win the last six games, including a 22-shot rally that brought him to match point when the 23rd seed Khachanov couldn't return a powerful shot from Evans into the corner.
Evans won the marathon match 6-7 (6), 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4.

U.S. Open champion Andre Agassi believes American tennis is ready for a Grand Slam “breakthrough” in men's singles.
“I was literally sore all over,” Evans said. “I don't think I've ever played five hours in one day, not once, not twice. I was really feeling that way on the court. I've never practiced two hours. I usually practice an hour and a half.”
The new record surpasses the previous record set at the US Open in 1992. The semi-final match between Stefan Edberg and Michael Chang went to five sets and lasted five hours and 26 minutes.
