Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) has consistently criticized Ms. Harris over the past few weeks for declining to participate in sit-down interviews led by journalists, despite being the Democratic front-runner.

Meanwhile, Vance and former President Donald Trump gave numerous media interviews during that time.

In addition to the interviews, Trump has appeared on a number of popular podcasts that reach millions of young voters, where he spoke about election policy, how to “Make America Great Again,” and what his running mate, J.D. Vance, brings to the table.

“I think it's a real embarrassment for Kamala Harris and for many of the American media involved in this case that, 17 days into being the Democratic nominee, you have someone who is not taking any questions from the American media,” Vance said in Wisconsin earlier this month.

In what has so far been an emotional campaign, Ms Harris' interview will be her first opportunity to clarify where she stands on a range of domestic and international issues and, if she wishes, to discuss how her views differ from those of Mr Biden.

Harris has faced a lot of criticism in interviews in the past. NBC When host Lester Holt asked Harris why she had not visited the US-Mexico border as part of her mission to investigate the root causes of migration from Latin America, she was visibly upset by the question.

“You know, at some point you're going to the border,” Harris said in an interview. “I've been to the border. So this … this, this whole thing about the border. I've been to the border. I've been to the border.”

Holt responded, “You've never been to the border.”

“I've never been to Europe, and I don't understand what you're talking about,” Harris said, laughing. “I'm not downplaying the importance of borders,” she added.
