Most Voters See Donald Trump as Strong Leader, Kamala Harris as Weak Leader

Surveys show that most voters see former President Donald Trump as a strong leader and Vice President Kamala Harris as a weak leader. economist/YouGov Poll.

In opinion polls, Published A survey of 1,549 U.S. adults, including those who answered 1,363-1,365 voters, asking them on Wednesday about their views of the leadership abilities of the candidates from both major parties revealed a wide gap between Trump and Harris.

Fifty-six percent of all adults say Trump is at least somewhat strong, with 37% saying he is “very strong” and 19% saying he is “somewhat” strong.

Meanwhile, 44% of respondents describe him as a “weak” leader, of which 13% see him as “somewhat weak” and 31% see him as “very weak” in this regard.

The overall results for registered voters are close to those for all adults, with 54% rating Trump as a strong leader and 46% feeling the opposite.

Digging deeper, the poll found that independents view Trump as a strong leader: Just over 6 in 10 independents say he is a strong leader, while 38% consider him a “weak” leader.

As for Harris, a majority of American adults, 51 percent, see her as a “weak” leader, including 38 percent who see her as “very weak.” Conversely, 49 percent believe she is a “strong” leader, with 24 percent rating her as “very strong” and 25 percent rating her as “somewhat strong.”

For registered voters, the overall numbers hold true.

Independents overwhelmingly have little confidence in Harris' leadership skills: A majority of independents, 58%, say she is weak, compared with 42% who say she is strong.

Forty-one percent of independents describe her as “very weak,” while 17 percent see her as “somewhat weak.” Only 13 percent see her as “very strong,” and 29 percent say she is “somewhat strong.”

The poll was conducted August 25-27, 2024, following the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, where fissures on the left were exposed and anti-Harris, pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protests dominated headlines all week.
