Vice President Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are scheduled to give their first campaign interviews with CNN anchor Dana Bash in Atlanta on Thursday night.
Over the past 38 days, Harris has been criticized for not answering substantive questions from reporters and not attending such events.
In contrast, former President Trump held at least two press conferences and participated in interviews with a variety of media outlets, including Fox News Channel.
Trump and Harris are scheduled to debate on September 10.

As the interview draws near, viewers are recalling Harris' previous appearances, including a 2021 debate with NBC's Lester Holt, where she was criticized for her response to a question about whether she would visit the Mexican border.
“I've never been to Europe so I don't understand what you're talking about. I'm not downplaying the importance of the border,” Harris told Holt, in comments that sparked discussion on the Republican side.
After Harris's convention speech, the Wall Street Journal editorial board said her presentation was “confident, optimistic, [but] It is largely lacking in policy content.”
“Whether she can continue this without explanation or revelation for the next 12 weeks will determine whether she becomes the 47th president of the United States.” The editorial board wrote.
But Harris has recently secured some high-profile surrogates for her campaign.
Kerry Kennedy supports Harris after brother RFK Jr. joins Trump campaign
After former independent candidate and Democratic scion Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped his presidential bid and endorsed Trump, the Harris campaign announced a series of joint appearances with Kennedy Jr.'s sister, Kerry Kennedy, who has been a vocal critic of her brother's political activities.
In Arizona, Mr. Kennedy appeared with Dolores Huerta, the labor activist who spoke onstage with Robert F. Kennedy Sr. on the night he was assassinated during a campaign stop in Los Angeles in 1968.
On August 7, Republican vice presidential nominee Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio told reporters in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, that being on the same runway as Air Force Two was “a bit of fun.”
Approaching Harris' car, Vance told reporters he “just wanted to check out the future plane,” adding that he wanted to greet Harris and ask “why she refused.”[s] To answer questions from the media.”
“At the very least, I have respect for you and for the American people and I want to talk to you and answer your questions.”
Thursday will be her first interview, but Waltz's inclusion in it has led to criticism of the announcement at X.
“Kamala Harris will be doing a joint interview with Tim Walz on Thursday. She really can't do the interview alone,” Outkick founder Clay Travis said.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Republican strategist Dustin Grage speculated that Walz is “a better communicator than Kamala Harris,” posting a clip of Walz in an interview with a CBS affiliate.
“That's why he played supporting role for her in Thursday's interview with CNN. But there's also a reason interviews are pre-recorded — because it's hard to remember all the lies on the spot, even for a quick interview.”
Prior to the interview, Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz embarked on a bus tour of South Georgia, beginning and ending in Savannah, where Chatham County is located and is solidly Democratic, but the campaign hopes the stops will help turn more voters to their supporters.
Southern Georgia leans heavily Republican, and in southwest Georgia, longtime Democratic Rep. Sanford Bishop's Warner Robins-Albany district is seen as a marginal win for Republicans if they do well this year.
Cook PVI's assessment is that Republican seats held by Reps. Buddy Carter and Austin Scott in the area will remain firmly Republican.
“[The bus tour offers the] A chance to go somewhere you normally wouldn't go [and] “We want to make sure we're competitive in every community,” said Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris campaign.

Tyler told The Associated Press that Harris has maintained Biden's tradition of attending informal gatherings, but the locations have changed, citing a recent stop in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, to watch a high school football practice.
Waltz is a former teacher and football coach.
Georgia is also a battleground state for both parties, with Democrats retaking both U.S. Senate seats in recent years and President Trump facing off against popular Republican Governor Brian Kemp.
The Republican candidate's rhetoric has reportedly changed in recent days, with the governor being praised by longtime critics for his “aid and assistance” in the Peach State.
“victory [here] “This is incredibly important to the success of our party and most importantly, our country,” Trump said at the X.
