The 35-year-old Wilson is in his first season with Pittsburgh after agreeing to a one-year deal in March after splitting with the Broncos.

The former Seahawks star joined Denver in 2022 with much hype, but his contract evaporated after just two seasons.

The Broncos benched Wilson for the final two games of the 2023 season before waiving him, owing him $85 million in dead cap money.

Wilson said Wednesday he was “very excited” about the opportunity.

“I came here to help the team win. That's our goal. And I think the best part is we've all been practicing hard every day, from OTAs to Latrobe. And, obviously, we have a great season ahead of us. We're looking forward to it.” He saidAccording to the Steelers official website.

Wilson appeared in 15 games with Denver last season, throwing for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Meanwhile, Fields has played in 13 games in 2023, throwing for 2,562 yards with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

In speaking about the 25-year-old Fields, Tomlin praised the former Bears quarterback's “freakish” athleticism.

“I've seen the highlights and stuff like that, but being an AFC coach, you don't always get to feel it or really pay attention to it. It's really exciting to see some of the things he can do on the football field,” Tomlin said.

The coach also said he wanted people to “speculate” on how the Steelers could utilize Fields.

Fields, who was selected 11th overall by the Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft, spent three seasons with Chicago before being traded to Pittsburgh in March.

The Steelers visit the Falcons in Week 1 on Sept. 8.
