“This really affected me when I first took this job because even if you expect it to happen, you never fully understand what it feels like until it happens,” Stenberg said. “But I feel like I worked through it in different ways, including speaking up for myself. … At some point it became incontrovertible for me that in order to continue being myself, I had to honor my values by speaking up in the context of working at Disney.”
“For me, it's been an incredible honor and a dream to be in this world,” Stenberg added. “Obviously, I'm very sad that the show has been canceled. … To those who supported us so and were so vocal in their support, despite all the vitriol we've received and, shall I say, targeted attacks from the alt-right, I want to say that you were deeply loved and valued, and that's what makes this job worthwhile for me.”
