Be ‘Positive and Rational’ with China

China's genocidal dictator, Xi Jinping, met with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Beijing on Thursday. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Xi lectured Sullivan to pressure the US to reject “exclusion or retreat” and to “develop a correct strategic understanding” of China's political agenda.

Sullivan wraps up a three-day visit to Beijing on Thursday, his first since being named national security adviser. Much of his time in China was focused on wide-ranging talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, China's top diplomat and one of its most influential foreign ministers in recent years. An anonymous senior White House adviser spoke before Sullivan's arrival. said Reporters expect Sullivan to meet with Wang for 10 to 12 hours during his visit.

Most of the content of the meeting remains private, but both sides claim it was productive. China's Foreign Ministry also did not release details of Thursday's meeting between Sullivan and Xi, but reports said Sullivan spoke passionately about left-leaning President Joe Biden's lack of intention to challenge China's totalitarian communist regime or join a “new Cold War” with China.

Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Read aloud The meeting focused mainly on Xi's comments to Sullivan, in which he portrayed the United States as a belligerent power and denied China's responsibility to build a responsible relationship with Washington.

“President Xi pointed out that in this changing and turbulent world, countries need unity and cooperation, not division and confrontation. People want opening up and progress, not exclusion and regression,” the foreign ministry said. “As two major powers, China and the United States should bear their responsibilities to history, their peoples and the world, and be a source of stability for world peace and a driving force for common development.”

Xi said that “correct strategic understanding,” meaning aligning U.S. international actions with Beijing's interests, is the “first issue” in any dialogue with Washington, and asserted that China's “strategic intentions are fair.” It is notable that in the statement, Xi made no mention of China's use of illegal secret police stations on U.S. soil, rampant intellectual property theft, or espionage against U.S. interests.

According to a readout, Xi told Sullivan that the U.S. should view China in a “positive and rational light” and adopt policies that foster “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.” Sullivan reiterated,[ing] The United States does not seek a new Cold War, does not seek to change the Chinese regime, our revitalization of alliances is not directed against China, the United States does not support “Taiwan independence” and does not seek conflict with China.

Taiwan is a sovereign coastal state of China that the Communist Party falsely claims as a province under Beijing's rightful control. Since the administration of leftist President Jimmy Carter, the United States has indulged in this illusion, refusing to acknowledge the reality of Taiwan's sovereignty in any official matters, although it has maintained informal communications with the Taiwanese government, infuriating Beijing.

The Foreign Ministry did not mention that Sullivan raised issues about China's ongoing genocide against the majority-Muslim Uighur people in East Turkestan, widespread human rights violations against political dissidents, China's colonization of poor African countries and other problematic actions.

The White House Published The conference abstract listed a variety of topics that were not mentioned at all in the Chinese version of the conference contents.

“The two sides discussed counter-narcotics, military-to-military communications, and AI security and risks,” the White House claimed. “They also discussed cross-strait issues, Russia's war with Ukraine, and the South China Sea.”

The White House confirmed reports that Sullivan's meeting would lead to a phone call between Xi and outgoing President Biden. China's Foreign Ministry said Xi told Sullivan he looked forward to speaking with Biden soon, but gave no further details. Shown In addition to the phone call, Biden may seek one final face-to-face meeting with Xi before his presidency ends in January.

The Biden administration has been particularly keen to highlight this week its first meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where they allegedly discussed artificial intelligence, climate and drug trafficking.

“Mr. Sullivan and Director Wang discussed next steps to reduce the flow of illegal synthetic drugs, continued deportations of illegal immigrants, and law enforcement cooperation,” the White House said in a statement on Tuesday. “They both stressed the importance of concrete steps to address the climate crisis and welcomed further discussions taking place during John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy's visit to China.”

China is the leading global supplier of the raw materials used to manufacture the deadly drug fentanyl, but has done little to curb production of those raw materials, despite Biden's efforts. China is also by far the world's worst carbon emitter and polluter in general, massively increasing its use of coal and polluting countries that mine rare earth minerals.
