‘Ozark’ Star Julia Garner Leads Chilling ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ Prequel ‘Apartment 7A’

Paramount+ released the trailer for “Apartment 7A” Thursday starring “Ozark’s” Julia Garner and it looks traumatizing.

Garner is taking on the role of Terry Gionoffrio, a recovering heroin addict played by Victoria Vetri (also known as playmate Angela Dorian) in Roman Polanski’s cult classic 1968 horror film “Rosemary’s Baby,” according to Variety. When we meet Gionoffrio in the trailer, she’s sweet, young, and hopeful about life as a successful dancer in New York City in 1965, one year before Rosemary (Mia Farrow in the original) is due to give birth.

A “devastating injury” destroys Gionoffrio’s dreams, so she moves into “Apartment 7A” in the luxury Bramford apartment building.

This is when a “peculiar, well-connected, older couple promises her a shot at fame.” Said couple are played by Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally. (RELATED: ‘Bad Monkey’ Might Be Vince Vaughn’s Role Of A Lifetime)

“When fellow resident and influential Broadway producer (Jim Sturgess) offers her another chance at fame, it seems that all her dreams are finally coming true. However, after an evening she can’t fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes that something evil is living not only in Apartment 7A, but in the Bramford itself,” the description continues.

Unlike most modern horror movies, “Apartment 7A” doesn’t seem gory, overly sexualized, or even traditionally terrifying. (RELATED: ‘The Watchers’ Trailer Suggests Cult Classic Horror Films Are Finally Back And Scarier Than Ever)

Thankfully, “Apartment 7A” isn’t going to the theater, so people will actually watch it. The movie drops on Paramount+ on September 27 for the Halloween season.
