Billionaire Elon Musk on Thursday slammed Vice President Kamala Harris for past comments in which she claimed illegal immigrants are not criminals.
The chaos at the southern border continues to be a major weakness for Harris' campaign, with liberal media outlets even trying to deny that she served as Biden's border secretary, while at the same time criticizing her for being opaque about policy and accusing her of constantly shifting it to appear moderate.
Musk shared a post Harris had made in April 2017 in which she wrote, “Illegal immigrants are not criminals.”

“Please note that these are actual statements from Kamala,” Musk added.
Musk also argued that allowing in large numbers of immigrants was an election ploy by the Democratic Party to win over voters.
“The US Democratic Party, as a whole, overwhelmingly votes Democrat and therefore has a huge incentive to accept and legalize illegal immigrants,” he wrote in a follow-up post. “No grand conspiracy theories are necessary. The simple motivation to win elections explains why they won't even deport criminals who attack police officers on camera, because doing so would mean losing votes.”
In early August, past comments from Kamala Harris' 2019 campaign website surfaced, which read: Election Benefits He said a policy of not deporting some illegal immigrants “could go a long way in helping win battleground states.”

The Harris campaign appears to be shifting its rhetoric on the border, taking a tougher stance than she did during the 2020 presidential election. The campaign released new ads portraying the former California senator as a border toughener, featuring images of the Trump-era border wall — the very border wall that Harris previously denounced as “un-American.”
“Dreamers should not be pitted against their families and sold off like a commodity in exchange for an un-American $25 billion wall,” she wrote in 2018.

The Trump campaign has accused the Harris team of trying to portray her as taking a hard line on the border.
“How long will the mainstream media allow Kamala Harris to hide and use staff to speak on her behalf?” Caroline Leavitt, national press secretary for the Trump campaign, said in a statement. “After 37 days of zero interviews, an anonymous Kamala campaign associate is now claiming that she supports President Trump's border wall. This is a wildly false claim.”
