Neil Young explains tour cancellation, admits he ‘felt sick’ at the thought of going on stage

A few months later Neil Young The 78-year-old musician explained the reasons behind his decision after his band Crazy Horse suddenly cancelled their 'Love Earth' tour.

During the period Live streaming with fans Young acknowledged Wednesday that he had “hit a wall” on both a personal and professional level.

“I woke up on the bus one morning and I was like, 'I can't do this, I have to quit.' The thought of going on stage made me feel sick,” the singer-songwriter admitted. “My body was telling me I have to quit, so I listened to my body.”

In June, Young announced that the band would be taking an “unscheduled hiatus” after several members of the band fell ill.

“The Love Earth Tour has been an amazing experience for us so far,” he wrote in a message. posted on his website“Great crowd and music. It was so much fun!”

“Following our show at Pine Knob in Detroit, several members of our team became ill, forcing us to cancel the show,” he continued. “As we are still not fully recovered, this is unfortunately an unplanned extended break from this amazing tour. As time passes, we will endeavour to get back to playing and perform some of the missed dates when we are ready to. We know many of you had travel plans and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Health comes first.”

“We hope to stick around and do more shows and albums for you all and for us,” the message concluded. “Love and gratitude to you all from Crazy Horse… Neil, Micah, Ralph and Billy Love Earth.”

During the livestream, Young said he knew the tough decision was for the best, despite the outcry from fans.

“Then there are the legal issues: 'This is allowed, that is allowed, people bought tickets, they did this, they did that.' I understand that, but to me it's the art of performing, and the music that matters,” Young said. “That's what's important. That's what people loved. That's what they wanted to come and see. But without that, I'm not going. My body is telling me not to do it.”

While Young acknowledged that he's “starting to feel like we can do it again,” some band members are “not fully back yet.”

But, he said, “Crazy Horse will come back, God willing, and we'll play some more, but in the meantime, I've got lots of friends to play with.”

The musician is set to take the stage again this fall at Farm Aid Festival in New York.
