Vice President Kamala Harris defended her policy changes on key issues in her first media interviews since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee.

of CNN The interview raised questions and skepticism because Harris had asked running mate Tim Walz (D-Minn.) to sit in on the debate, which was not broadcast live – it was pre-recorded.

“Generally speaking, how should voters view some of the changes you've made?” he asked. CNN In a teaser clip before the full, edited version is released, host Dana Bash says, “… is it because you now have more experience, you're more informed, you're running for president in the Democratic primary, and your viewers should feel comfortable and confident that what you're saying now is going to be your policy going forward?”

“I think the most important and significant thing about my policy views and my decisions is that my values haven't changed. You talked about the Green New Deal, but I've always believed and committed to the climate crisis being real and being an urgent issue that requires applying standards like deadlines. And I did that with the Inflation Control Act,” Harris said in an interview.

Harris has also been criticized for changing course on border policy, and many even claim she is disingenuous because her record shows she has no problem with “illegal” aliens draining taxpayer-supported U.S. resources. Furthermore, her three-year role as “Border Secretary” only resulted in a flood of illegal immigrants into the country.

The same Democrats who criticized Trump's border policies are now being forced to indirectly acknowledge that they benefited their own party. Harris now appears to be positioning herself as a “border hardliner,” as made clear in her 2024 presidential campaign ads.

“My values have not changed about what needs to be done to secure our border. As Attorney General of California for two terms, I worked to prosecute violations of U.S. laws relating to the illegal passage and transit of guns, drugs and people across the border, as well as international criminal organizations. My values have not changed,” Harris said.

The interview will be released on Thursday at 9 p.m.
