Shane Lowry has viral exchange with reporter over her Oasis flub

Today will be a day when the on-air personality remembers the origins of “Wonderwall.”

An exchange between PGA Tour star Shane Lowry and FanDuel correspondent Ali McCann made headlines this week after Lowry revealed he would like to date British rock band Oasis, a band the sports betting host apparently had no idea about.

“So if you could have drinks with any celebrity and get their opinion, who would you pick and why?” McCann asked Lawrie on Wednesday ahead of the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

“I'd love to have a drink with Oasis,” the three-time PGA Tour winner replied, referring to the group's first reunion in 15 years.

When Lawrie asked, “Do you know Oasis?” McCann replied, “No, I don't.”

Laurie was clearly taken aback by this response, demanding: “You don't know Oasis?”

“No,” McCann said, and the pair erupted in laughter, with Laurie, 37, replying: “Oh my gosh, you're obviously a lot younger than me and this is the biggest news ever.”

McCann later apologised after Lawrie instructed him to look into the group which includes brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, who have had a tumultuous relationship in the news for many years.

“I'll do that right after this,” she said.

On top of that Being tagged in an Instagram post “It's embarrassing, to be honest,” McCann said of his interaction with Lawrie.

When one user responded, “Wonderwall? Disappointing…” referring to the 1995 smash hit, McCann replied, “I looked it up and I know it. Don't worry too much about it.”

Lawrie is tied for 14th at 2-under par in Thursday's opening round of the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club. He later joked about the exchange. About X.

“Really?” he wrote, along with crying-laughing emojis and the hashtag “Oasis.”
