For over 100 years, nothing like this has ever happened.
This isn't entirely true, but it sounds cooler, so let me live.
The NFL returns next season, beginning with the Kansas City Chiefs attempting to defend their title for the second time. The Chiefs are the winners of Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII (and of course Super Bowl LIV) and are looking to become the first team in league history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
Admittedly, the league itself is over 100 years old, and we're nowhere near that Super Bowl yet, but when you consider that the season the league celebrated its 100th anniversary was also Kansas City's first breakthrough season in the Patrick Mahomes era, it all feels relevant and safe.
It may not be obvious, but we're talking about a team in the midst of a dynasty, looking to win a third consecutive championship and a fourth overall, a rare opportunity that not many at any level of the sport ever get a chance to attempt.
You'd think the Chiefs themselves would be tired of hearing about it by now. At least, that's what I thought. Center Creed Humphrey spoke with me on Friday, and I joked that I wouldn't ask him any questions about it because he'd probably said enough already. He took it in stride, saying he didn't mind talking about it, but it's no big deal. This season is another year for the Chiefs to try and be as good as they've always been.

As annoying as it is to create yet another reason why dynasties are great, I fear the way Creed handled this will force further reflection on how Kansas City is run and has been throughout this period.
They don't waver. They're calm, cool, collected. Success is normal. It's expected. They're not afraid to admit they're on the verge of doing something historic. They don't have the scars that most sports fans carry. They walk through the fires of this game that has burned us all too many times.
That's impossible and amazing at the same time. I left this conversation even more impressed with how their organization is run. Creed was awesome and I'm grateful he took the time to speak with us.
We would also like to thank Sleep Number for making this interview possible.
Sleep Number is the Official Sleep + Wellness Partner of the NFL, with 80% of players in the league currently benefiting from the improved sleep performance that comes with Sleep Number smart beds.
Creed has been using a smart bed since his rookie year and knows that quality sleep enhances recovery and helps him perform at his best on the field.
Creed visited the Sleep Number store to check out the latest models and learn more about the technology.
Sleep Number's biggest sale of the year is happening now, with up to 50% off smart beds. The sale is running now at SleepNumber.com and will run through Labor Day weekend.
This will be a fascinating season for the Chiefs and I am excited to watch it unfold.
