Gov. Doug Burgum (R-North Dakota) said on CNN Newsroom on Friday that Vice President Kamala Harris, a potential 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, “wants to have an open border.”
“Thank you so much for your time this morning. What would you say to your constituents who are understandably concerned? Not just your constituents, but also pro-life groups who were very troubled by the former president's position last night, where candidate Trump Vance actually stands on the abortion issue,” guest host Alex Marquard said.
“I think President Trump has been very clear on multiple occasions that he opposes a nationwide ban and supports states making their own decisions. He recognizes and acknowledges and has said many times that when state citizens and state legislators make these decisions, it's going to be different from state to state,” Burgum said.
He added: “In this case, Florida, he's just one of the voters in Florida. But he's made it very clear that he's against a national bandh. The Democrats have misrepresented that again. He thinks it's the 10th Amendment. The federal government has a specific, limited set of things that he wants to focus on. One thing that the federal government does, and one thing in particular that he's very clear about, is the border, and that's a federal job as part of national security. That can't be left to the states. President Trump wants to secure the border. Harris wants to have an open border, as does Biden. It's one of the big issues that people face. And President Trump's position on that issue has been very clear.”
