Caitlin Clark trolls fans, collects career-high 31 points in Angel Reese showdown

Caitlin Clark styled herself to a new career high.

Clark, the leading candidate for WNBA Rookie of the Year, scored a career-best 31 points to lead the Indiana Fever to a 100-81 victory over fellow first-year star Angel Reese.

Clark recorded 12 assists and showed efficient shooting to help the Fever improve to 16-16 on the year and further solidify their playoff hopes.

“I think we understand each other a lot better,” Clark said, according to the Associated Press. “When you have good chemistry and you have time to play together, it builds confidence. I think you guys have noticed that. … I'm proud of this team.”

“We're sharing the ball and taking good shots. It helps our transition game and it helps our defense.”

The Iowa native had some fun with the fans at Chicago's Winterst Arena after getting an and-one opportunity as the Fever extended their lead.

Clark made 8 of 14 field goals, 5 of 9 3-pointers and a near-perfect 10 of 11 free throws.

Two-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell added 23 points for the Fever, hitting 9 of 13 from the field and 3 of 5 from deep.

Reese added 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Sky, who also made history themselves.

The LSU product holds the records for most double-doubles and most rebounds by a rookie in a single season, both records previously held by Tina Charles.

She also moved five rebounds away from tying Sylvia Fowles' single-season WNBA rebound record of 404 set in 2018.

The game marked Clark's third 30-point game as a pro and his ninth double-double overall.

Overall, the Fever are 15-8 after starting the season with a 1-8 record.

Indiana currently sits sixth in the WNBA standings.
