San Francisco 49ers first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall was reported shot during an attempted robbery in downtown San Francisco on Saturday, Mayor London Breed confirmed.
“This afternoon in Union Square there was an attempted robbery involving San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was shot.” Breed's statement about X reads:“San Francisco Police Department quickly responded to the scene and arrested the shooter.
“Our hearts go out to Ricky and his family right now.”

Mayor Breed added that she would provide more information on Pearsall's condition “as soon as we have it.”
According to NBC Bay Area Gia Vann of San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin's office said Pearsall is in stable condition.

Niners wide receiver Deebo Samuel also posted to X, “He's doing great. Thank goodness!!!!”, apparently referring to Pearsall's condition.
The San Francisco Fire Department told Fox News Digital that two victims were found with apparent gunshot wounds near Grant and Geary streets. The initial 911 call was made at 3:38 p.m., and both victims were transported to a hospital by paramedics.

The 49ers and San Francisco Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
After a standout season at Florida in 2023, where he threw for 1,027 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games, Pearsall was selected 31st overall by the 49ers in the 2024 NFL Draft.
But Pearsall missed most of the preseason with a shoulder injury, which head coach Kyle Shanahan called a shoulder subluxation. Shanahan said Pearsall's most recent subluxation occurred on Aug. 6, but he battled it through practice.

Pearsall has also been bothered by a hamstring injury that caused him to miss all three of the 49ers' preseason games.
