‘Do an Exorcism on the Bell?’ After Mocking Christians, Paris Places Olympic Bell in Notre Dame Cathedral

Paris Olympic officials have announced that bells made for the 2024 Games will be installed in Notre Dame Cathedral to call believers to mass, despite criticism that entertainment at this year's opening ceremony mocked Christianity.

The 2024 Games will feature a wide range of programs including dance, music and fashion, and at one point drew heavy criticism for mocking the religious painting “The Last Supper” and replacing Jesus and his disciples with gay and transgender models.

Despite the widely-held anti-Christian sentiment of the opening speech, Paris officials donated a 1,103-pound bell made by the Cornille-Avars foundry in France specifically for the 2024 Olympics.

The foundry produced nine bells for Notre Dame's 850th anniversary and restored eight of them after the devastating fire that devastated the cathedral in 2019.

“A few months ago, the Paris organizing committee contacted us and asked if we'd be interested in the bells of Notre Dame,” said Father Olivier Ribadeau-Dumas, the parish priest and archpriest of Paris. Catholic News Agency “And we accepted this proposal,” he reported.

The new bell will join the others and will be responsible for ringing for the congregation during Mass at the dedication ceremony.

Social media users expressed their displeasure at the Satan Olympiques' donation of bells to France's most famous church.

One X user wondered if there was a ritual to exorcise demons from the bells before entering the church.
