At least 17 people have been shot in Chicago so far over the Labor Day weekend, with three of them dying from their injuries.
ABC7 No. 7 Reported The first fatal shooting of the holiday weekend occurred just after 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 11800 block of South Indiana, when a 49-year-old woman was sitting on her porch when someone from a driving car opened fire.
The woman was shot twice and paramedics rushed her to hospital, where she died.
Hours later, just after midnight on Saturday, another woman was shot and killed in the 3900 block of West Ogden Avenue. The 58-year-old woman was in her car when someone opened fire, hitting her in the neck.
The third shooting fatality over the weekend was a man who was in a parked vehicle in the 2900 block of East 89th Street when someone approached the vehicle and opened fire, striking the man in the chest. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
