Gymnast and national title winner Kara Welsh was shot and killed Friday in an apartment near the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus.
New York Post Reported The suspect in her murder is a 23-year-old man, and police believe Welsh knew him.
When police arrived at the apartment just after midnight Friday, they found Welsh dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers determined an altercation had occurred between Welsh and a 23-year-old man.
Whitewater City attention The man was “arrested and is being held in the Walworth County Jail.” He has been charged with “first degree intentional murder,” “endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon,” and “armed disorderly conduct.”
Welsh “won the individual national title on vault in 2023.”
