Vice President Kamala Harris turned heads at a Labor Day rally in Detroit, Michigan, when she showed off what critics called a “new accent.”
Harris spent Monday off in the Motor City, hoping to solidify support among blue-collar union workers in a key battleground state that will help preserve Democratic victories in November's election.
“You better thank your union members for giving you a five-day work week,” Harris told the crowd, in a clear shift in vernacular. “You better thank them for taking sick days. You better thank them for giving you paid time off. You better thank them for giving you holidays.”

Today she's speaking with a fake Southern accent and pretending to be a moderate. Next week she'll be back to being a San Francisco liberal.”

Harris has repeatedly been accused of changing her accent depending on the group she is speaking to.
In July, Harris was accused of using a fake Southern accent while speaking at a rally in Atlanta, and during a 2021 international trip to France, critics alleged she used a “French accent” while touring a COVID-19 lab.
