A new poll shows Democratic confidence soared following the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, with Vice President Kamala Harris closing the enthusiasm gap with former President Trump.
A USA Today/Suffolk University poll showed Ms Harris leading Mr Trump among likely voters 48% to 43%, within the poll's margin of error.
The poll found that Democratic support held up in House races, with 48% of voters saying they plan to vote for the Democratic candidate in their local congressional race, compared with 43% for the Republican candidate. That marks a 7-point change from earlier this year, when Republicans had a slight 47-45 advantage over Democrats.
The USA Today poll was conducted among 1,000 registered voters by landline and cell phone from Aug. 25 to 28, after the Democratic National Convention. The poll has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Democrats have also proven in recent weeks that they have more confident voters, with 87% saying they are confident Harris will win the November election, while only 76% of Republicans are confident Trump will win.

Despite the fluctuations in his approval rating, Trump's campaign has noted the former president has a history of performing well in the polls and has stressed that he is happy with his current poll rankings.
Kamala Harris has not held a formal press conference since emerging as the Democratic candidate.
“At this point in the 2016 campaign, Donald Trump was trailing Hillary Clinton by an average of 5.9 points. At this point in the 2020 campaign, he was trailing Joe Biden by 6.9 points,” senior adviser Corey Lewandowski noted in an interview on “Fox News Sunday” this weekend.
