“I've always thought that was one of the great things about doing Doctor Who,” he said, “to scare kids, in a controlled way, but still scare them. Imagine saying to kids watching Doctor Who, 'By the way, this might be scary'. No, I don't like that.”
Other actors have also spoken out about trigger warnings.
In May, British actress Judi Dench harshly criticised the sensitivity of theatre-goers, saying: “If you're that sensitive, then don't go to the theatre.”
Fellow Brit Ralph Fiennes also denounced the very notion of trigger warnings, telling the BBC: “I don't think we should have to prepare ourselves for this sort of thing and when I was younger there were no trigger warnings on shows.”

Liberal HBO comedian and talk show host Bill Maher has also criticized the idea of trigger warnings, arguing that they are “like putting a mask on your mind.”
