Illegal MS-13 Gang Member, Wanted for Murder, Found Living in Texas

An illegal immigrant MS-13 gang member wanted on murder charges who successfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border was found living in Houston, Texas, earlier this year.

The first was Alexis Vladimir Cañizares Romero (27), an illegal immigrant from El Salvador. Crossed Southern border near Hidalgo, Texas, March 2020. Cañizares Romero was immediately expelled to Mexico, thanks to former President Donald Trump's border enforcement measure known as Title 42.

Later, on an unknown date, Canizares Romero crossed the border again as a “fugitive” – someone who is unknown to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) but who successfully crosses the border.

Under the leadership of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, it is estimated that more than 2 million fugitives have successfully entered the United States.

In March of this year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents encountered Canizares Romero after he was arrested for drunk driving in Harris County, Texas.

When ICE agents investigated Canizares-Romero's background, they found that he was a member of the MS-13 gang wanted in El Salvador for femicide, murder and unlawful association. ICE agents then served a detention warrant on Canizares-Romero and he was transferred to their custody the following day.

In July, a federal immigration judge ordered Cañizares Romero deported from the U.S. On August 30, Cañizares Romero was deported by ICE agents to El Salvador to face charges of murder.
