The Biden administration is expected to accuse Russia of orchestrating an ongoing effort to influence the 2024 US presidential election by spreading misinformation targeted at American voters through state-run media and other online platforms.
Fox News has confirmed that entities with ties to Russia will be targeted by the Justice Department, and CNN reports that the Kremlin-backed RT television network is expected to be named by the Justice Department as one of the key players in the covert operation.
When asked by Fox News Digital for its reaction to the allegations, RT replied, “Of course we've had reactions. In fact, we've had a few, but we couldn't decide on one (we even considered running an internal survey), so we're responding here.”
“2016 is here and the clichés are back,” said one commenter, while others added, “Three things are certain in life: death, taxes and RT interference in our elections,” “We've got to earn the Kremlin's pay somehow,” and “Somewhere Secretary Clinton is sad that it's not her doing it.”

The move came after the Department of Justice forced RT to register as a “foreign agent” in 2017.
At the time, the station said, “T&R Productions LLC (T&R), a Washington, DC corporation, is registered with the Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act as an agent for ANO TV-Novosti, the Russian government agency responsible for the worldwide broadcast of the RT network (RT).”
“Since August 2014, T&R has operated RT's studios, employed and paid all of RT's U.S.-based employees, and produced RT's English-language programs, which air on cable networks across the United States and are also available on RT's website,” it said.
Rebecca Koffler, a former Defense Intelligence Agency official, previously told Fox News Digital that RT and other overseas propaganda outlets are part of a permanent cyberwar waged by Russia against the West.
“They don't just do propaganda in wartime, during conflicts,” she said in 2022. “They do propaganda in peacetime too. They are constantly denigrating the United States and misrepresenting our foreign policy objectives… My point is, if we allow their propaganda channels to air freely, it tilts the playing field in Russia's favor.” [way]”
“RT is a channel entirely controlled by the Russian government and its only purpose is to tilt the American public and the places it broadcasts to the Russian point of view and to present local events as Russia wants the world to see them. So if the US doesn't want that to happen, it would be appropriate to shut it down,” Kofler added.
