Club for Growth pours $5M into tight House races as GOP braces for tough election

First appeared on FOX: As Republicans fight to maintain and expand their slim majority in November, leading conservative groups are pouring an additional $5 million into key races in six House races across the country.

Growth Action Club and Win It Back PAC, affiliated fundraising groups seeking to retake control of the White House and Senate from Democrats' control, are running new ads Wednesday in Alaska, Arizona, California, New Mexico, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Fox News Digital reportedly plans to flood the airwaves via satellite, streaming and mail for about nine weeks until Election Day on November 5th.

“Over the past few years, Democrats across the country have made it clear that their priorities are excessive spending on far-left pet projects and passing pro-criminal, anti-police legislation. After record inflation and prioritizing criminals over law-abiding families, Democrats should prepare to be held accountable on Election Day,” Growth Action Club President David McIntosh told Fox News Digital.

The 30-second ads portray Democrats running in each district as soft on crime and accuse them of being “extremely pro-criminal” and “supporting felons over families.”

Crime and policing were issues crucial to House Republicans' chances of victory in the 2022 midterm elections.

Club for Growth's latest ad buy aims to protect vulnerable Reps. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) and Scott Perry (R-Pennsylvania). The ads are also targeting Democratic front-line Reps. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), Gabriel Vásquez (D-Minn.) and Mary Peltola (D-Alaska).

The sixth most-invested race is the seat being vacated by California Democrat Rep. Katie Porter, which Republicans are eyeing as an opportunity to make gains.

The big spending in Democratic districts shows that Republican groups are once again starting to get bullish about their chances of retaining and even expanding their majorities.

This comes as Republicans in the House and Senate are battling a wave of enthusiasm from donors from the left for Vice President Kamala Harris' fledgling campaign.

A few weeks ago, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), the House Republican campaign arm, warned his colleagues to step up their fundraising.

He acknowledged that he raised alarm bells with comments to Fox Business last month.

“That's true. We've seen fundraising on the Democratic side skyrocket, so I've warned my candidates and my colleagues in Congress that we've got to stand up and keep doing what it takes to win,” Hudson said in late August.

He called the response from House Republicans “great,” adding, “They all stepped up. Several of them even committed more funding to the committee… I think people are ready for a fight.”
