The White House confirmed Wednesday that President Biden and Vice President Harris will commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York.
“You will see the president and the vice president together next week mourning the thousands of lives lost that day, and the first responders who risked their lives to protect the American people,” spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment about its anniversary plans. Reported The former president is considering visiting the former World Trade Center site, also known as Ground Zero.
Harris visited the Sept. 11 Memorial Museum in lower Manhattan on last year's anniversary, marking the anniversary of the attacks in Alaska that drew criticism from Biden, who was returning from an international trip to Asia on the anniversary.
First lady Jill Biden laid a wreath at the Pentagon Memorial last year to commemorate the victims of the hijackers who flew planes into both the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, before a fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.
Harris is scheduled to travel to New York City next Wednesday after visiting Philadelphia the previous day to attend a presidential debate with former President Trump.
