Nate Burleson rips NFL fans angry over Taylor Swift’s presence in promo

Some NFL fans were not happy to see Taylor Swift appearing in a promotion for the 2024 season.

Nate Burleson clapped back at them.

The former NFL wide receiver and current “CBS Mornings” host weighed in on the discussion surrounding the NFL's social media videos, which featured a slew of highlights to get fans hyped for upcoming games.

And Swift, the famous girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, appears five times in the 29-second video, including sharing an on-field kiss with her boyfriend after the AFC Championship game.

It was a controversial decision that divided fans, with some vocally disagreeing with the decision to select the pop star over 2023 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.

“Stop putting Taylor Swift on the air we don't care,” one X user wrote.

“Just wondering, why is Taylor Swift in this video more than anyone else of her real life peers?” another user wrote.

Now, Burleson has noticed some of that anger and responded on CBS on Wednesday.

“To all of you who are getting emotional, please leave a seat,” he said. “Put your emotions aside. Oh you're mad? You're a little mad because Taylor Swift is in the promo? Who cares! Wipe the drool off your tank top, put your pants on, and get out of your mom's basement. I don't know what the big deal is. Other sports can show celebrities at the game. We show Taylor Swift and you get emotional! Put your emotions aside and watch the game!”

Swift's dating life has become intertwined with the football world over the last year, and she has become a frequent visitor to NFL games.

Swift was also featured on multiple television broadcasts as she attended some of the team's biggest games, including the Chiefs' Super Bowl win.

but, The New York Times reported in January. At the time, the “Bad Blood” singer was typically on screen for less than 25 seconds per game, a tiny fraction of the time spent in an NFL game, which typically lasted four hours.

With the Chiefs having a chance to make their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, Swift will likely get more TV exposure this year, whether fans are happy about it or not.
