Former President Trump is scheduled to speak about the state of the economy and his policies during a campaign event in New York on Thursday.
Trump's proposals focus primarily on issues that concern low-income voters, and he has pledged to eliminate tip taxes on service sector workers and enact a sweeping tariff system aimed at creating more jobs and raising wages in the country.
His tax cut plan Costs more than nearly any other federal agencyBloomberg News reported that the proposal would result in an estimated $10.5 trillion deficit over 10 years. Experts say that if implemented, the proposal could increase the nation's budget deficit by more than $4 trillion over the decade.
Polls show the economy and inflation remain top of mind for voters heading into November, and Harris and Trump have been trying to make their case in recent weeks. The issue is likely to be a major talking point in next week's presidential debate, which will be the first time the two candidates meet in person.
According to the Hill/Decision Desk National Polling Index, Harris is currently leading Trump 49.2 percent to 45.6 percent.
The event at the Economic Club of New York is scheduled to begin at 12pm EDT.
