Mayor Adams stands by NYPD commissioner caban after feds raid home

Mayor Eric Adams on Friday made his support clear to the public as he supports Edward Cavan, whose office has been sacked by local politicians since federal agents searched his home earlier this week.

In his first interview since the attack, Hizzoner told PIX11 he still has faith and confidence in Cabans' ability to lead the nation's largest police department.

“Chief Cabana can continue to do his job,” Adams said, praising his handpicked top police officer for helping to “reduce crime rates” during his time in office.

Asked if he had all the confidence in the police chief, Adams replied: “Yes, I do.”

It remains unclear why federal agents searched the home of Cabán, who was one of several senior Adams administration officials whose homes were searched by federal agents early Wednesday morning.

The home of Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks and the townhouses housing Superintendent David Banks and First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright were also searched and their electronic devices seized.

Terrence Banks, a former MTA employee who is now a consultant and the brother of Phil and David Banks, was also targeted in the attack, according to sources.

A total of eight of Mayor Adams' aides are under federal investigation.
