Maher blasts Cheryl Hines's critics after RFK Jr., Trump joined forces: 'Obnoxious posers'

Comedian and TV personality Bill Maher slammed critics of Cheryl Hines, calling them “nasty fakes,” after Hines' husband, former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., endorsed former President Trump.

Hines faced backlash online when her husband announced he was ending his independent presidential bid and endorsing Trump, and Kennedy said days later that his wife did not support Trump and that her reaction to the endorsement had been “far from encouraging, it was the opposite.”

Maher, who said he “likes” Kennedy but won't support him for president, scolded Hines' critics, claiming the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star faced hate “because Hines didn't call her husband out when he made decisions about things she made it very clear she was against.”

“But that didn't satisfy those aforementioned obnoxious far-left posturists,” Maher said on his show “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday.

“Thousands of people tweeted and yelled at Cheryl, saying things like: 'How do you control yourself?', 'Try harder,' and 'I can't even enjoy your episode of Crazy Energy anymore.'”

When Kennedy announced he would be endorsing the former president in the 2024 election, actor Bradley Whitford immediately He criticised Hines for being “silent”. Maher hit back, also attacking the modern “left”.

“I don't think it's brave to mansplain to a woman, but it's certainly not OK to tell her to her face that she should sacrifice her marriage,” Maher said. “Also, you can read stuff on Twitter that makes sense to you.”

“You want to know why I'm more angry at the left than I was before? Here's the thing,” he continued. “There's an ugliness to them that they never had before. None of the liberals that I grew up looking up to would do this. Go after your wife. Not even the Mafia would do that.”
