Duncanville’s five-star QB Keelon Russell, WR Dakorien Moore prove to be a dominant duo

There may not be a more exciting duo in the country than five-star quarterback Kieron Russell and five-star wide receiver DaCorine Moore, who are currently leading the charge for Texas powerhouse Duncanville. Ranked 6th among high school teams By MaxPreps.

Regarded by Rivals as the No. 9 overall player and No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2025, Russell has committed to the University of Alabama and is one of the fastest-growing players in this cycle as a dual-threat option.

Moore is the No. 3 overall player and leading receiver in the 2025 class and is committed to the University of Oregon. He is one of the most energetic players in the country, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 185 pounds.

The duo was on the ball in Duncanville's 34-12 win over South Oak Cliff on Friday, handing the opposing team their second straight loss to start the season on the road.

Russell led the team with 325 yards and five total touchdowns, while Moore was no weakling, catching nine passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in Duncanville's season debut.

It was the second straight year they played well in the season opener against South Oak Cliff, with Russell rushing for 366 yards and four touchdowns and Moore exploding with seven catches for 281 yards and four touchdowns last year in Duncanville's 34-13 victory.

Before Russell and Moore head off to their respective colleges next year, they will be looking to lead another successful season at Duncanville, one of the top teams in Texas in recent years.

Last year was Russell's breakout season, as the University of Alabama product completed over 74 percent of his passes for 3,267 yards, 35 touchdowns and three interceptions in 14 games.

He had three games of 300+ yards and four or more touchdowns last season, achieving both milestones in Friday's season opener against South Oak Cliff.

Meanwhile, Moore is coming off a season in which he caught 65 passes for 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns at Duncanville and has emerged as Russell's clear lead option.

In fact, Moore only had four games total without a touchdown, but in 2023 he had the same number of games with multiple touchdowns.

Duncanville has appeared in the finals five of the last six years and both players will be key to the team's chances of winning another state title.

The biggest game on the schedule is a road trip to top-ranked DeSoto in October, a rematch of last year's 49-35 win for DeSoto. Russell threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns and Moore had seven catches for 104 yards and two scores, but they couldn't dethrone their opponents.

DeSoto just saw its 23-game winning streak snapped in a tough 57-51 win at North Crowley on Friday, with its last loss coming in 2022 at the hands of Duncanville.

Still, Friday night's 34-12 win was a great start to the season for Russell, Moore and the sixth-ranked Duncanville Panthers, and the duo will look to continue building on those highlight performances in their final year of high school.
