When asked which candidate Bush and his wife supported, they said “no.” NBC News.

“President Bush retired from presidency years ago,” Laura Bush said.

The former Republican president's abstention comes just a day after former Vice President Dick Cheney announced his intention to cross party lines and endorse Kamala Harris.

“In the 248-year history of our country, there has never been a greater threat to our country than Donald Trump,” Cheney said. “He tried to steal the last election, using lies and violence to maintain his hold on power after it was rejected by voters. We cannot entrust him with power again.”

Following Cheney's announcement,Number President Donald Trump fired back at Truth Social, calling Cheney “an unaffiliated Republican primary elector who, along with her daughter, lost by the largest margin in the history of a congressional election.”

While Bush claims to be apolitical when it comes to voting in presidential elections, he said he asked former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to vote for him in the 2020 presidential election, choosing instead to focus on voting for Republican senators.

The former vice president's daughter and former congresswoman, Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), has chosen to cross party lines and vote for Harris in November's election.

“I don't think there's any room to write in the candidate's name, especially in battleground states,” she said. “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and values the Constitution, I've thought deeply about this, and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not going to vote for Donald Trump, I'm going to vote for Kamala Harris.”

The Harris-Waltz campaign has indirectly sought the endorsement of Republican politicians by saying she would be open to appointing Republicans to her cabinet if elected.

Liz Cheney has previously called Harris a “radical liberal,” but has completely reversed her stance on Harris, leaving skeptics questioning her 180-degree reversal of her statements about Harris.
