Despite being in power for almost four years, Vice President Kamala Harris will likely try to position herself as an agent of change in Tuesday's debate.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, costs across the board have risen by about 20%, immigration crime has soared, illegal immigrants have overrun our southern border, Russia has invaded Ukraine, and 13 U.S. soldiers were killed during the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
According to CNN, former President Donald Trump, the most experienced debater of the “modern era,” is likely to blast Harris on these issues and hold her responsible for his administration's failed policies.
“We want to continue to lead Trump to break her record on fracking, her shifting attitude and show that she is just as responsible for the Biden administration's failed policies as Biden is,” one Trump adviser said. said CNN.
Many of Harris' policy solutions remain vague, giving Trump a powerful ammunition to paint her as a sneaky and duplicitous politician. Changed Her views are completely reversed or she takes an unclear position in nine areas.
- Prohibited Plastic straws (flip flops)
- a Delegation By 2035, produce only electric and hydrogen vehicles (unknown)
- Prohibited Hydraulic fracturing (changes in tone)
- Gun confiscation through a buyback program (which an anonymous campaign spokesman said he no longer supports);
- Decriminalization Crossing the southern border illegally (a cause he reportedly no longer supports, according to an anonymous campaign spokesman).
- Compensation (unknown)
- building A border wall (which he previously opposed but now supports, according to an anonymous campaign spokesman)
- Federal Job Guarantee (An anonymous campaign spokesman said he no longer endorses her.)
- Medicare for All (Changed his attitude)
Trump has an opportunity to exploit a conundrum with Harris: She could campaign on policies to improve crime, inflation and border security, which would undermine the policies of the Biden-Harris administration, but she must tout the administration's policies to justify her own record and her candidacy.
CNN's Dana Bash exposed Harris' conundrum in her first and only pre-recorded interview.
Harris touted the Biden-Harris administration's economic record while simultaneously blaming it on Trump, creating a stark contradiction that forced her to promote the administration's policies to justify her candidacy while undermining her own record and candidacy.
Tuesday's 90-minute debate will air on ABC News at 9 p.m. ET, moderated by ABC anchors Lindsey Davis and David Muir.
